Supporting our members

A message from our CEO, Sonya Byers

It's been a surreal couple of weeks for us all, adapting to a new 'normal' and adjusting to almost daily changes to our working and home lives.

We know that some of our members and their colleagues are working very much on the frontline as keyworkers during this crisis and we are incredibly grateful to every person out there helping to keep the country moving.

At Women in Transport, we want you to know that we are here to support you and committed as ever to our mission of advancing women in transport. Christine and I have been working together behind the scenes, with the board and our volunteers, on replanning our events, communications and strategy. We are used to working remotely but are also usually extremely busy attending various external events, collaborating with partners and delivering on our own programme.

We have postponed and cancelled some of our events where necessary. Not every event naturally lends itself to a virtual format, so we have been reviewing each event on a case-by-case basis, looking for alternative ways to continue with our programme.

Like many of you, we are adapting and innovating, and we will be trying a few new things over the coming weeks. This includes:

  • A webinar on maximising your profile on LinkedIn

  • Launching the virtual Women in Transport Book Club

  • A weekly live forum using Zoom to provide an opportunity for members to network virtually

  • A regular newsletter

We are currently in discussions with trainers and coaches on delivering more virtual workshops and will share further details soon.

Plus we will be sharing content regularly across our blog and social media channels as usual. As ever, we very much welcome guest blogs, videos and events to share across our network, so do get in touch if there's anything you would like to contribute. Or feel free to tag us on Twitter, LinkedIn or Instagram if there is something you would like us to know about or share.

If you have any ideas or suggestions about how we can support you during these changing times then do drop me a line at sonya@womenintransport.com. If you are feeling lonely or isolated or just want to talk, then please do reach out. I am available on 07970 404025 and Christine is too, on 07543 688138. You can also connect with me on LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram if you prefer.

My sincerest wish is that everyone stays safe and well during this time. We will come through this together!
