The European Women In Construction & Engineering (WICE) Awards aim to make construction and engineering more enticing to women, to create role models for women considering a career in these sectors, while encouraging companies to employ and train more women in these industries.
Women represent only 11% of the construction workforce in the UK and most of these jobs are office based and only 2% work in manual jobs. When it comes to women in engineering only 9% of UK engineering professionals are women.
Neil Pepper MBE is a volunteer board member for Women in Transport, a Night Construction Manager in Renewals and Enhancements at London Underground and a passionate STEM ambassador. We are delighted to announce that one of our members, Milda Pladaite, nominated Neil as Best Male Mentor for the WICE Awards 2020 and that he is a finalist.
In this wonderful video, Neil and Milda share their experience of mentoring. Congratulations Neil and good luck for the finals!
