A boardroom full of women 

It was a landmark moment for Women in Transport last week as we joined our Advance mentors and mentees for training with EW Group.

The Advance mentoring programme is a pilot scheme that Angela Gainsford, Christine Hurley and I have been collaborating on for a year. It was wonderful to see this work culminate in a boardroom full of talented women, working across the transport sector, passionate about the industry and committed to progressing their careers.

It's official WTS London is now Women in Transport! This move allows us to project a brand identity that is clear for our members, supporters and collaborators whilst continuing to offer the same membership benefits.  Our mission as Women in Transport is to to be an independent, professional network showcasing the diversity of careers in transport, providing access to senior decision makers and supporting the professional development of women working in transport.

Continued cross-party support to tackle under-representation of women in transport

We are pleased to announce the continued support from the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Women in Transport to tackle the under-representation of women in the sector. Ruth Cadbury MP was re-confirmed as Chair of the APPG on 12 September 2017 and we planned our next programme of events in Parliament to support women in transport. Women in Transport is delighted to be continuing to provide secretariat support to the APPG.

Closing the Gender Pay Gap

Our response to the Government’s manifesto commitment to require larger employers to publish gender pay information. These regulations will cover private and voluntary sector employers in England, Scotland and Wales with at least 250 employees.
