What is your role on the board?
Lead for the Wales Regional Hub.
How long have you been involved with Women in Transport?
Since November 2022.
Why did you join Women in Transport?
Because I'm passionate about encouraging more women into the transport sector, to ensure that we are designing our transport networks for everyone. I'm also keen to provide a network for those working in transport to ensure they have connections and resources to support them in the workplace.
What do you enjoy most about being part of Women in Transport?
Meeting all the wonderful members, stakeholders and supporters.
Current job title?
Customer Experience Director at Transport for Wales.
What does your current job involve?
Overseeing the Customer Experience teams, including the customer contact centre teams, social media team, customer data team and journey teams. I also look after the CX and future contact centre strategy, looking at how we can better utilise technology to support our customers and the business.
What's the best thing about your job?
Without doubt the best part of my role is working with our colleagues and the many fantastic supporters and stakeholders we work with. I also love engaging directly with customers and hearing what they have to say and how we can support them better.
How did you become involved in the transport industry?
I started working in the transport sector 20 years ago on a graduate placement with what was then GoWales which funded graduate roles within organisations. My background is marketing and comms and I started as a marketing assistant for PTI Cymru (Traveline Cymru). I worked my way up from that role, to Project Manager, to Marketing Manager, Operations Director and finally Managing Director before our organisation was acquired by Transport for Wales in 2022.
What do you like about working in transport?
I really enjoy the problem solving element of working in the transport sector and listening to our customers and figuring out what we can do to better support them. I also enjoy working with fantastic people who are working hard to make a difference in terms of encouraging behaviour change, modal shift and encouraging more people to leave their cars at home and use public transport or active travel modes.
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the journey I have been through, throughout my career. From starting in a really junior role and learning about how the transport sector works and progressing. I am also proud of the connections and relationships I've built along the way as I am confident that these have supported me in progressing with my career.
