Deloitte supports Women in Transport and launches Inspiring Women Leaders interview series

We’re delighted to welcome Deloitte as the latest corporate partner to join Women in Transport. We look forward to working with them as they support our efforts to advance the professional development of women working in the transport sector.

This partnership demonstrates Deloitte’s commitment to promote gender balance within their organisation, and the wider transport and travel industry.

In 2020, Deloitte established an internal Women in Transport (WiT) network, dedicated to developing the next generation of women transport industry leaders. Their aim is to attract, advance and retain talented women to work on large and complex programmes and projects in the transport sector.

A central feature of Deloitte’s WiT network is the opportunity for women to connect and network, both internally and with relevant industry organisations. Deloitte’s new corporate membership will allow 20 individuals from across the firm to contribute to and benefit from involvement with our organisation.

“We are delighted that Deloitte has been able to align with Women in Transport.  We started our own initiative a year ago and it’s great to see how enthusiastically it’s been taken up and is providing another network within the Firm for our female transport practitioners to help grow their careers.  Joining Women in Transport can only enhance this initiative and we are looking forward to being able to help Sonya and her team thrive and provide even more support for even more talented women.”

Simon Dixon, Global Transportation Leader at Deloitte LLP

Launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, Deloitte’s WiT has hosted a series of ‘virtual’ events to connect people and talk about career development. They provided organisers the chance to hear what initiatives and support participants would most benefit from.

A recurring theme was the value of senior mentors and role models to help shape your career. In response, the organisers started ‘Coffee Roulette’, where members of Deloitte’s wider transport community are matched randomly for informal chats. These monthly meetings enable people to meet a new or familiar face and discuss anything, be it project stories, personal promotion experiences, or even lockdown survival tips. The goal is to help people grow their network and potentially meet future mentors.

The network has also reached out to senior women leaders in the transport industry, to gain insights into their journey on where they are today and help raise the profile of role models within the industry.

Deloitte is now proud to launch the Women Leaders in Transport series, interviews with leaders who share their personal stories, career highlights, the challenges of leading during the COVID-19 pandemic and top advice for future women leaders.

The series includes:

  • Julia Lo Bue-Said, Chief Executive Officer at Advantage Travel Partnership

  • Dawn Wilson, Managing Director at Northern Region Airlines, TUI Airways & TUI Fly Nordic

  • Kay Ryan, Chief Commercial Officer at Loganair

  • Vicki Freed, Senior Vice President, Sales, Trade Support & Service at Royal Caribbean Cruises
