We are delighted to announce a new corporate partnership with Brighton & Hove Buses commencing 1 August 2019.
Brighton & Hove Buses gives people the freedom to connect with the people and places they value most across Brighton & Hove, Sussex, Kent and Surrey. They rack up 66 million journeys a year; the most bus journeys per head outside London and equivalent to the country's entire population.
Their comprehensive network of over 3,000 bus stops is served by a low emissions fleet of 430 buses that they invest more than £9 million a year in, achieving customer satisfaction levels of 92%.
Brighton & Hove Buses is a great example of a company leading the way on diversity and inclusion in the transport sector. They invest in their people, through training and mentoring. They are working hard on a growing culture of inclusive leadership through their Dignity and Respect Partnership with Unite and to reflect the diversity of the communities they are very much a part of.
The company has set a target of 20% women in its workforce by 2021 and has already had success attracting more women as drivers, apprentices and managers. It has worked on its internal culture, changed its recruitment practices and introduced family friendly policies, like flexible working, shared parental leave and time off for family emergencies, amongst other initiatives.
Brighton & Hove Buses has sponsored corporate membership to Women in Transport for 30 women across the business providing access to networking, events, mentoring and the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Women in Transport. They are also supporting next year’s APPG and joining our three incumbent sponsors to support the Advance 2020 mentoring programme.
Martin Harris, Managing Director, Brighton & Hove Buses commented:
“Becoming a member of Women in Transport is another important step on our journey. Their support as we continue to evolve our culture is so valuable to us”
