A mixed team of Women in Transport members joined our CEO, Sonya Byers, to take on the 30th Great South Run in Portsmouth on Sunday 20 October, thanks to ENGIE.
The Great South Run is a flat, fast route over 10 miles taking in some of the highlights of Portsmouth, including the Spinnaker Tower, Southsea Seafront and the Historic Dockyard (past Nelson's flagship HMS Victory).
Our Women in Transport team was comprised of two men and seven women:
Sonya Byers, CEO, Women in Transport
John Dearing, Business Development Director, ENGIE
Kate Kenny, Vice President, Head of Sector - Cities and Places, Europe, Jacobs
Joanne Saunders, Innovations Manager, Eurovia
Madeleine Bishop, Site Agent, Eurovia
Lucy Willway, Structural engineer, Mott MacDonald
Daniel Harris, Head of Talent Acquisition, Mott MacDonald
The weather on Sunday was absolutely perfect and everyone delivered fantastic performances with great team spirit and enthusiasm. Madeleine led Women in Transport home in a storming time of 01:22:10, followed by Lucy at 01:27:58 then Joanne at 01:36:02. Daniel was next in at 01:43:14 with John close behind at 01:46:55. Kate also came in sub-2 hours at 01:50:38 and finally Sonya at 01:52:24.
The ENGIE team were super, giving the entire team a warm welcome, keeping our bags safe and cheering us along the way as well as capturing some great snaps and videos.
Our thanks to John Dearing, one of our Advance mentors, for organising this great opportunity to participate in the ENGIE Business Challenge and to our members for taking part with such enthusiasm. It was a great day out. Special thanks to the support team from ENGIE for everything they did to make the day memorable and fun.
Members of Women in Transport benefit from networking with like-minded professionals, professional development workshops and technical talks, mentoring and access to the All Party Parliamentary Group for Women in Transport. This was a great opportunity for some of our members to meet others in the industry and do something fun together.
