Networking is a very important part of supporting our Women in Transport members, especially during these difficult and uncertain times.
At a time when many of us might be working in relative isolation, we feel it's good to talk, albeit virtually, and we have set up weekly Zoom sessions to give our members the chance to meet up and chat.
At our recent meet-ups we have been delighted to get to know some of our members better. Discussions so far have focused on how we have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on us, both professionally and personally. Talking about a range of topics, including adapting to working from home, volunteering, home schooling, helping elderly relatives and ways of staying connected to our families, has enabled us to to share and learn from each other's experiences. We have also been talking about change in the wider context and shared learning from our collective experience.
The sessions are very friendly and informal and we hope members are finding them a pleasant and positive distraction in these difficult times.
This week our topic to kick off the discussion is: 'Looking on the Bright Side'. Please do share any uplifting experiences you have had recently or tell us about anything that has inspired you, such as a quote, a book you have read or a talk you have heard.
Please note that the next session will take place on Thursday at 3 pm rather than the usual Wednesday at 2pm.
A few other things to note:
Children and pets are absolutely welcome (a few made brief appearances in our last session). We are all adjusting to the 'new normal' and interruptions are part of this!
If you have not used it before, you will need to download Zoom (you will be prompted when you ask to join the session).
You can access via a mobile with a camera or, ideally, a desktop/laptop.
Technology can be unreliable and so can broadband. We will do our best to make the IT work our end but we are not experts and we don't have an IT team to support.
We look forward to talking with you soon.
These drop-in sessions are only open to members of Women in Transport.
