Women in Transport: Live Drop-In Networking

Online networking master.jpg

Networking is a very important part of supporting our Women in Transport members, especially during these difficult and uncertain times.

Our regular live-drop in Zoom sessions have become a regular feature on the Women in Transport calendar and we hope you will join us for our next virtual meet up.

At our recent sessions we have been delighted to get to know some of our members better.

These conversations are providing an opportunity to share and learn from each other's experiences on topics ranging from the Covid-19 pandemic, through a range of issues such as the progress of ED & I, the role of male allies, how women can help each other advance their careers and whether remote working is the way forward.

At our next session we will be talking about:

Unconscious Bias

Unconscious bias refers to unconscious forms of discrimination and stereotyping based on race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, ability, age and so on.  It can be based on stereotypes and prejudices that we may not even realise we have and occurs when people favour others who look like them and/or share their values.

Unconscious bias, whilst unintended, is a natural part of our make-up and it can affect our decisions and lead to us unknowingly to discriminate against others.

This session will be an opportunity to share your own stories of how unconscious bias has affected you and how we can work to mitigate its effects. We will discuss issues such as:

  • How does unconscious bias affect our decision making?

  • How do we recognise unconscious bias in ourselves and others?

  • How do we go about changing the behaviours that arise from such biases?

  • What can businesses do to mitigate the effect of unconscious bias?

If you would like to join us, please register by completing the form below and we will send you joining instructions.

Please note that, as we have limited time and to avoid disturbing the discussion, you will not be able access the session after 5.10pm, so please join promptly.

We look forward to talking to you there.

This event is only open to Women in Transport members.
