At this months’ Live Networking Event we are pleased to host An Audience with … Marcia Williams

Networking is a very important part of supporting our Women in Transport members, especially during these difficult and uncertain times.

Our regular live Zoom sessions have become a regular feature on the Women in Transport calendar and we hope you will join us for our next virtual meet up where we are delighted to introduce:

An Audience with Marcia Williams (followed by a networking session)

Marcia Williams is the Head of Customer Services for London Underground’s Northern Line and has had a varied and interesting career in rail operations and customer service.

Marcia joined London Underground at the age of 18 in the grade of “Railman” (how times have changed) on the Bakerloo line before progressing to a Train Guard where she first developed her love of interacting with customers. After a short career break to have a baby, Marcia returned, this time with the grade of “Rail-woman” (progress!).

Following a further stint as a Revenue Control Inspector and, despite being told that her dyslexia would hold her back, Marcia refused to listen and soon landed a job as a Duty Station Manager on the Bakerloo line, before moving on to the Northern line. Marcia has always wanted to challenge, not just herself but also the perceptions of others, so she began aiming for a Group Station Manager (GSM) role. This took her ten attempts but that determination to succeed never left her: “I never once complained. I never moaned I just kept going despite the failure.

She took her opportunity and became the GSM at Morden, before progressing to a variety of senior roles including Performance Manager, General Manager and finally Head of Customer Services on the best performing line, the Northern Line!

Join Marcia at our Monthly Live Networking session on Wednesday 13th October to listen to her story and join a Q&A before we hold our usual networking session.

These sessions are always very enjoyable and we feel this is a great way to engage and support each other, so we do hope you will be able to join us.

Please note that, as we have limited time and to avoid disturbing the discussion, you will not be able access the session after 5.10pm, so please join promptly.

We look forward to talking to you there.
