The TfL Women's Colleague Network Group always has a very busy calendar. There are upcoming events planned spanning a number of important topics including sessions from one of our newest recently formed sub-groups - 'Career Changers' - a group formed to support colleagues who are considering or are going through a career change. Whilst still relatively new is already adding value to colleagues demonstrating that relatively small efforts can have huge impacts. In mid-November the 16 days of action against violence to women and girls starts, there is an extensive calendar of events which the WCNG fully supports, specifically the WCNG are facilitating several interactive sessions to help colleagues learn how to be an active bystander should they experience or witness intimidating or aggressive actions against women or girls. The menopause hub group holds monthly sessions, November’s session will focus on how the menopause impacts women of colour differently and will be co-chaired with NHS England. Partnering with similar groups outside of TfL is a priority for the WCNG in order to share knowledge and expertise and continually improve our offering.
The events that the WCNG host are always a huge success, but the work doesn’t end there. Much is being done in the background to deliver against a set of priorities that aim to deliver change and improvements in key areas that are most important to our members. The WCNG priorities must align and support TfL’s wider commitments to its people and the WCNG will actively support the implementation of the recently launched TfL Action on Inclusion Plan.
Effective collaboration and engagement are key and the WCNG already works collaboratively with TfL’s other network groups and diversity and inclusion teams supporting wellbeing and learning events. We recently collaborated with the RACE group for black history month and are partnering with our Outbound (LGBTQ+) group for the active bystander sessions with many more planned.
A new leadership team has recently been announced which will bring new energy and ideas and drive the well-established network group to achieve even more for its members and all colleagues in TfL.
