Networking is a very important part of supporting our Women in Transport members. Our regular live Zoom sessions have become a regular feature on the Women in Transport calendar and we hope you will join us for our next virtual meet up.
At our recent sessions we have been delighted to get to know some of our members better.
These conversations are providing an opportunity to share and learn from each other's experiences on topics ranging from the Covid-19 pandemic, through a range of issues such as the progress of ED & I, the role of male allies, how women can help each other advance their careers and whether remote working is the way forward.
Ultra Low Emission Zones (ULEZ)
From 25th October 2021, Transport for London (TfL) the Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) in London will be expanding. This expansion will increase from central London to create a single, larger zone up to, but not including, the North Circular Road (A406) and the South Circular Road (A205), with the aim to improve air quality within London.
Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London is quoted as saying “It’s an action we must take to help clean up our city’s air and save lives.“
The ULEZ will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and vehicles travelling in the ULEZ will be charged £12.50 a day, depending on the age and type of vehicle and whether it meets certain emission standards (up to and including 3.5 tonnes). Lorries, vans or specialist heavy vehicles (over 3.5 tonnes), or buses, minibuses and coaches weighing over 5 tonnes will be except (as they pay a higher LEZ charge).
Are you or your business affected by the introduction of the ULEZ expansion? Do you think the expansion will encourage people to buy cars which meet the low-emissions requirements? Or do you think it will encourage people to travel more sustainably via public transport, walking or cycling?
Come along to our next Live Next Working Session to discuss.
