Networking is a very important part of supporting our Women in Transport members, especially during these difficult and uncertain times.
Our weekly live-drop in Zoom session has become a regular feature on the Women in Transport calendar and we hope you will join us for our next virtual meet up.
At our recent sessions we have been delighted to get to know some of our members better.
These conversations are providing an opportunity to share and learn from each other's experiences on topics relating to the Covid-19 pandemic, such as adapting to working from home, volunteering, home schooling, helping elderly relatives and ways of staying connected to our families. We have also discussed change in its wider sense, looking at the outcomes resulting from lockdown such as the TfL Streetspace programme and the impact of Covid-19 on gender equality.
Last week we had a fascinating conversation about equality, diversity and inclusion which involved sharing our experiences and perspectives on equality related to various sections of the community including gender, LGBT and race.
As the support of male allies is crucial in the quest for gender equality, the topic of our next weekly chat session will be:
'The role of Male Allies'
This will be an opportunity to explore and hear your perspective on questions and issues such as:
What is the role of the male ally from a practical perspective?
How can we get men to understand better the issues women face in the workplace?
Good examples of male allies we have seen or heard about.
How, with the help of men, can we get companies to adopt family friendly working practices as organisational principles rather than as benefits to women?
How can we encourage more men to join and support women's networks.?
We are very fortunate that we have a number of excellent and valued male allies in Women and Transport and we very much hope that some of these will be able to join in the discussion.
If you would like to join us, please register by completing the form below and we will send you joining instructions.
A few things to note:
Children and pets are absolutely welcome (a few have made brief appearances in our recent sessions). We are all adjusting to the 'new normal' and this is an opportunity for some informal networking.
If you have not used it before, you will need to download Zoom (you will be prompted when you ask to join the session).
You can access via a mobile with a camera or, ideally, a desktop/laptop.
Technology can be unreliable and so can broadband. We will do our best to make the IT work our end but we are not experts and we don't have an IT team to support.
We look forward to talking to you soon.
This event is only open to Women in Transport members.
