Highbury Corner at night 600.jpg

Women in Transport members have been invited by Ringway Jacobs to find out more about the considerations required and what is involved when undertaking a Public Realm and Transport Project incorporating lighting.

Lighting is a vital part of such projects. It can transform a public space, creating a sense of wellbeing and greatly enhance an area at night.

At Highbury Corner there were particular design considerations and obstacles to overcome and some innovative theatre techniques were employed, along with very pragmatic ways to install and set up the design.

Peter Phillipson, Principal Lighting Designer of the project, will open the event by discussing the ideas behind the scheme, at the Ringway Jacobs’ London Bridge Office, where light refreshments will be provided. He will then accompany our group, on the London Underground, to see the site at Highbury Corner.

This promises to be a really interesting discussion and event as Peter is an award-winning creative lighting designer melding aesthetic design aspirations with can-do finished fully-engineered projections. He has worked across multiple sectors including optics, museums, film, television and theatre production. With a passion to innovate, he lectures and teaches lighting and history related subjects and writes for lighting journals.

This unique opportunity is not to be missed.

Places are limited and only open to Women in Transport members, so please register as soon as possible by completing the form below
