Climate Change: Risks & Opportunities for Construction

  • NEC Birmingham B40 1NT United Kingdom (map)

What can the ACE (architecture, construction & engineering) & transport planning industry do to help tackle climate change?

The built environment is responsible for approximately 40% of energy consumption and 36% of CO2 emissions. How can we reduce the environmental impact of buildings & infrastructure and protect from the impacts of climate change that are already occurring? Hear from industry experts including Women in Transport member, Joanna Ward, on these and the wider environmental challenges including waste, responsible sourcing, repurposing of materials; air quality; green infrastructure and what technologies and solutions will help address them.

Joanna is a highly experienced and motivated Transport Professional with a special interest in Sustainable and Active Transport solutions. She is a member of Women in Transport, a Board Director of the Transport Planning Society and a member of the All-Party Parliamentary Cycle Group.

This seminar is part of UK Construction Week (UKCW) which FREE to attend and consists of multiple sections: Build, Building Tech, Civils, Energy & HVAC, Surface & Materials and Timber running from 8-10 October and newly launched Concrete Expo (8-9 Oct only) and Grand Designs Live (9-10 Oct only).
